- Jackie Leven - OH WHAT A BLOW THAT PHANTOM DEALT ME! - la recensione
The short introduction names eleven folk-rock pieces and Johnny Dowd and Leon Hunt as guests.
- Jackie Leven – Oh What A Blow That Phantom Dealt Me
Short review: not a revolutionarily new but a typically classic Leven album with Johnny Dowd as a partner, a homage to Kevin Coyne, more blues in the guitar playing, poems by Kenneth Patchen and “I've Been Everywhere” as a comic list of his usual tour stops.

Gill praises the combination of despair and black humour. He particularly recommends “Vox Humana”.

Review taking up the album's ghost motif (warning notice in the inlay, collection of quotations in the booklet).
- Jackie Leven – Oh What A Blow That Phantom Dealt Me!
Mixed review: the “estimated 23rd album” is an all too cosy sequel to the last records, “preaching to the converted”.
- Jackie Leven / Oh What A Blow That Phantom Dealt Me!
Detailed, positive review: less melodramatic and more relaxed than its predecessors, with folk, rockabilly, chanson and blues, produced by Leven with David Wrench; part of the vocal tracks were reportedly recorded in a Ukrainian church.
