The death of his brother
Snowdrops will always make me think of Ed now
Jackie Leven, The Past Didn't Go Anywhere, April 2011
His younger brother Ed died in the spring. Afterwards Leven was able to finish a song from a chorus he had begun years earlier in a hotel room in Münster: “Beware Soul Brother”. He wrote the line about snowdrops ten minutes after a walk along the Hamble, where the first ones were out. Whether Ed died in 2010 or 2011 is not certain; the site follows Leven’s own texts.
