From October 2002 Leven wrote a monthly column on his website, “The Deep Pool”, and from 2008 a blog and several other features. Seventy-six of these texts survive, around 90,000 words. They are the basis of this site and the only place where he talks about himself at length in his own voice. The quotation comes from one of his last entries.
