The death of his parents
He wrote nothing about this time.
His father died in 2000, his mother in the autumn of 2004. She could not drive, but she kept his car so that she could sit in it alone and remember, and that became the song “Woman In A Car”. When Leven cleared her room at the care home, he left her shoes and clothes behind and took away the postcards he had written to her on tour.
