Publisher's video of just under two minutes: Rankin explains that the novel's title is a “mondegreen” – for years he heard the refrain of Leven's “Another Man's Rain” as “Standing in Another Man's Grave” and only noticed the mistake when looking at the lyric booklet; Rebus mishears it in the same way at the start of the novel. The book is dedicated to Leven, and each section begins with a Leven line. Rankin calls him a great guitarist and storyteller, “not well enough known”. Tenor: tribute shortly after Leven's death.
