Doll by Doll in the late 70s

Short reminiscence post by a concertgoer from the north-east of England: he saw Doll by Doll around 1979 at the Middlesbrough Rock Garden and thinks he also saw them as support act on the Hawkwind tour at Newcastle City Hall; at the time he did not think them special, but listened to the debut “Remember” often and only in retrospect recognised its uniqueness. Also a Leven quotation about “soulful” rather than “spiritual” storytelling (no source given). In the comments two readers remember Doll by Doll at the Hawkwind concert, at the Reading Festival and at the “Rock on the Tyne” festival in Gateshead Stadium.
