Jackie Leven - Summer: Barefoot Days/Deep In The Heart of Nowhere (Cooking Vinyl)

Davies describes the two live recordings (Black Horse, Otley; The Greys, Brighton) as dominated by Leven's between-song announcements – on Barefoot Days there is room for only six songs, but there are anecdotes, for example about an encounter with Joni Mitchell. On the second CD he singles out “Down by the River” with guest singer David Thomas (Pere Ubu) and regrets that the duet “You've Lost That Loving Feeling” announced in the press release is missing. Friendly tenor, stories “fascinating”, no rating.
