JACKIE LEVEN: The Haunted Year – Men In Prison/Munich Blues

Finnish review of the double CD from the reissue series (concert in the Norwegian prison in Bergen and a solo concert in a Munich café), rated 4 out of 5 stars. Kanerva compares Leven with Van Morrison – the same Celtic-bluesy roots, but without his breakthrough; Leven's discography fluctuates greatly, only Night Lilies is a flawless masterpiece. Praised are powerful, nuanced acoustic guitar playing, stories from life and the baritone; only a great artist is so at one with audience and songs.
