Mektig og jordnært – JACKIE LEVEN: The Mystery Of Love Is Greater Than The Mystery Of Death

Positive short review of the solo debut: Leven spent the last decade more with the withdrawal treatment of fellow musicians (CORE Trust) than with his career – credit to him for that, especially as the album is bigger than most of what is on the market. Praise goes to the “cinemascopic” breadth of sound made of mandolins, violins, synthesizers and electric guitars and above all the voice, which is crooner, folk and soul singer in one. He sings “I Say a Little Prayer” with Scott Walker elegance, and the rest are slow, lyrical originals.
