Great Lost Albums – Doll By Doll – Doll By Doll

Stuart Maconie presents the third, self-titled Doll by Doll album (Magnet 1981) as his personal “lost album”: uninfluential and barely heard, but loved by him. He praises Leven's guitar playing and the versatile voice, singles out “Up”, “Bright Green Field”, “Main Travelled Roads” and “Caritas”, and asks at the end where the band have gone – readers with information or a good copy should get in touch. Tone: affectionate hymn; he calls the follow-up album weaker.
