Festival report Reading Rock '79 – Friday

Westwood's report on the Friday of the 1979 Reading Festival (24.08.1979, headliners The Police). Doll by Doll were the whipping boys, hated by almost everyone so much that the crowd was able to let off steam early; Leven later said that every band serves a function in this absurd spectacle. Westwood regrets that the band were put into this entirely unsuitable setting and came out again without any sympathy; The Cure were the most impressive band.
