The trade magazine Music Week carried an advertisement on page 51 of its 16 December 2011 issue marking Jackie Leven's death. It is headed with a line from “Main Travelled Roads”: “Eternal warrior who finds beauty in his wounds”. Beneath it: “Our dear friend Jackie Leven has passed away. Jackie's family has asked for donations to erect a memorial to the great man.” Donations can be made via PayPal at jackie-leven.com or to the Musicians Benevolent Fund.
The ad then quotes a line saying it would be “truly lovely for his family and many friends to have a permanent, physical reminder of this unique man where he used to sit in the village with the dogs, look at the water and write his music”, followed by “JACKIE LEVEN, June 18th 1950 ~ 14th November 2011”. No sponsor is named. The advertisement shows that the appeal was also placed in the British music-industry press.
