Jackie Leven and Michael Cosgrave – Wayside Shrines And The Codes Of The Travelling Man

Review of the last studio album: Cosgrave had a free hand this time (keyboards, accordion, tin whistle, percussion, co-composition), while Leven played only acoustic guitar and sang. It sounds like their joint concerts, hence the absence of bass and drums; songs about and from German hotel rooms, a poem set to music, a humorous Townes Van Zandt reference. Overall verdict: friendly and sober, “typical Leven fodder” – released two months before Leven's death.
