“Fangie” has admired Leven since a Doll by Doll gig in a Manchester pub in 1982 and calls him his “Great Lost Superstar” of British music; he recommends Fairy Tales for Hard Men, The Mystery of Love, Shining Brother Shining Sister and Control. Six replies name The Haunted Year – Winter, the Rankin audiobook from the Queen's Hall, Defending Ancient Springs and the new Gothic Road; one reader describes how Leven turned up before a gig with a thick wad of notes “about things I could talk about” and did not use them, and relates a stage story about a jealous boyfriend in front of the television.
