Jackie Leven - This Haunted Year: Autumn - Greek Notebook/Only The Ocean Can Forgive (Cooking Vinyl)

Review of the final instalment of the Haunted Year series. Davies describes Greek Notebook as 33 sketches (“Island”) from Walkman recordings made over seven years on Astypalea – interesting as an insight into the working process, more for completists. Only the Ocean Can Forgive mixes studio and German live recordings (including from the “Acoustic Stories” tour of 2003, “Sting's Dead” as a ten-minute narrative) and ends with “Barefoot Days” from the Haunted Valley Christmas party of 2002 with Joe Shaw and Kevin Hewick. Matter-of-fact and benevolent, no rating.
