Jackie Leven – Man Bleeds In Glasgow / Greetings From Milford

Four out of five stars. Oliver considers Man Bleeds in Glasgow (1998, with the Celtic Soulmen) the stronger part, because the live versions do without the at times “pale” studio production. Greetings From Milford shows Leven as an interpreter of other people's songs (Velvet Underground, Van Morrison's “Madame George”) and ends with Doll by Doll's “Main Travelled Roads”. Leven is a neglected “national treasure”.
