Fra Bergen fengsel – Jackie Leven: The Haunted Year. Winter

Short review of the double CD The Haunted Year – Winter: Leven (Doll by Doll, then “på kjøret”, trapped again, since then a series of beautiful albums with impressive lyrics) feels at home in Bergen; one CD shows him alone with guitar at the concert in Bergen prison in 2003, where between songs he tells of his “crooked” life and – with bare accompaniment – one can hear even better than usual how well he sings. The second CD comes from a Munich café in 2000 with fellow musicians, the keyboard player bringing more studio sound. Verdict: Bergen is better.
