Short review of the Cooking Vinyl edition (in Norway via Bonnier Amigo) of Songs for Lonely Americans, which Leven releases under the pseudonym Sir Vincent Lone. Andreassen hears the familiar vocal splendour, but a more political tongue than usual (“The War Crimes of Ariel Sharon” and “(I've Never Known) Peace on Earth” are named); the album is indispensable for fans, but at the same time more ordinary and less special than much else by Leven. “Revenge of Memory” and “Balamory Death Chant” are singled out. Closing: for the many people in Drammen who have discovered Leven, a record that completes the picture of the “great Scottish artist”. Overall tone: benevolent, but not euphoric.
