Nordaførr med Jackie Leven

NRK text portrait for the radio series “Ukas P2-artist” (14–18.11.2005, weekdays 9.30–10.00 am on NRK P2). Short biography: after four Doll by Doll albums a severe crisis, heroin as self-medication against anxiety, finally overcoming the addiction; the later records are self-critical, honest and at the same time quirkily humorous, and revolve around the question of what it means to be a human being and above all a man. The P2 man Arne Berg, a long-time Leven listener, accompanied him to concerts in Tromsø and Kabelvåg and along the coast on the Hurtigruten; the landscape awoke in Leven memories of his Scottish outsider childhood.
