Plate: Jackie Leven - Poesi for en stille kveld

Publication: Stavanger Aftenblad
Author: Geir Flatøe
Date: 19 February 2003
Language: Norwegian
Access: Online

Review of Shining Brother, Shining Sister (Cooking Vinyl/VME, 66:50 min.) with guests such as David Thomas, Ron Sexsmith and Robert Bly. Flatøe praises the expressiveness and ballad character but criticises the length of many pieces and wishes for more discipline in cutting; he mentions a song about a drinker in Cardiff and one in which Oslo and Bergen, but not Stavanger, appear. Conclusion: benevolent, music for melancholy evenings; no rating in the text.

Summary in our own words; for the exact wording see the original.

Litt mer skotsk gjerrighet kunne gjort underverker.

on the excessive length of the songs.
