Conversation on the day of the concert in Tromsø (his third appearance there within two years). Leven says Tromsø is a beautiful city in which to be lonely; loneliness is one of his themes. He does not want to be called a poet: that is a title others bestow on you, and it frightens him when young people wake up one morning and think of themselves as poets – you can write well without being a poet (with a coarse comparison). He gets ideas from small observations, such as the way an old woman turns round in the street. The song “Burning the Box of Beautiful Things” was partly written in the bar of the Grand Hotel: the barmaid's reaction to a situation gave him the third verse. He writes constantly, even when he was at rock bottom; in the evening he wants to play some new songs for the first time.
Summary in our own words; for the exact wording see the original.
Jeg synes Tromsø er en fin by å være ensom i.
En dikter er ikke noe du bare bestemmer deg for å bli.
