Factual text on Concrete Bulletproof Invisible from the perspective of the Glen Matlock biography. The group came about because all members lived close to one another and drank in the same pub; first gig at a benefit concert at the Camden Palace for the bereaved of the late actor and singer Gary Holton, where encouraging words from Robbie Coltrane tipped the balance. Only release in 1988 on RadioActive: “Big Tears” (Matlock) / “Braid On My Shoulder” (Leven), 12" with “Good Thing” (Jo Shaw); keyboards James Hallawell, harmonica Mike Spencer, production Matlock and Dave Goodman. The US 12" (Dimension) contained “Love Kills”, recorded for the film “Sid & Nancy” but not used – according to Leven, speaking to Wavelength magazine, because it was “too well played”. Concerts in Scandinavia and Oban, among other places, no proper tour. Shaw meanwhile played with the Pretty Things, McIntosh with Test Dept and The Hit List (cf. Music Week, 25 May 1985: Hitlist with ex-members of Doll by Doll and Darts).
