Jackie Leven – Gemengde gevoelens.

Review of the concert of 19.09.2010 in the Bovenzaal of the Paradiso, where Leven played before the US roots band Chatham County Line. The reviewer describes “disgust, admiration and sympathy”: sympathy because the hall was not sold out and tickets went at half price on the night; admiration for the voice (compared with Tim Hardin and Aaron Neville) and guitar playing, accompanied by a musician on keyboard and melodica; disgust at the excessive use of “fuck” on stage. The set lasted about an hour, much of it anecdotes (including about Ralph McTell and David Childers); Leven refused encores with a dig at Robbie Williams. Overall verdict: mixed.
