“Bunnsolid”: Leven is among the most remarkable living lyricists, literary and full of pop-culture references, never showing off. He masters existentialist darkness (“Gothic Road”, “Last of the Badmen”) just as well as quirky everyday observations from touring life (“Hotel Mini Bar”) and humour – “Absolutely Joan Crawford (With a Bit of Tilda Swinton on the Side)” is priceless. Objection: it too rarely really sparks; craftsmanship, production and the voice, which sounds of old whisky and lived life, nevertheless make the album a good buy.
