Very positive review (“Sterkt”): Leven has become an elegant gentleman “with several ghosts in the closet”, an eternal outsider like his contemporaries John Cooper Clarke and Billy Childish. Gothic Road is described as a “blue record with black humour”, personal but not self-pitying; the review praises big guitar parts, plain bluesy-jazzy rhythms and the bright, present voice. Highlights: “Song for Bass Guitar and Death”, “My Lost Blonde”, “Hotel Mini Bar”; allusions to Ian Curtis, Joan Crawford and Dolly Parton.

Summary in our own words; for the exact wording see the original.

en blå plate med svart humor

Core verdict.
