Hymnic short review: nobody sings as poetically about trains leaving dirty industrial towns in the rain, or about the romance of backyards in Stockholm, Bergen and Amsterdam (“My Philosophy”). Leven is Scotland's best-kept secret and deserves an audience on the scale of Leonard Cohen's; a future classic is “A Little Voice in Space”, and “Heroin Dealer Blues” has a lived background. Leven is doing well today, clearer than ever. Rating according to a later BA article (01.03.2003): 5 out of 6.
