Leven as a “hounded Iron John and king of the restless”: a calm, coherently produced album with more detached lyrics, including memories of his late father (“My Spanish Dad”, “Rainy Day Bergen Women”) and “Exit Wounds” with a quotation from Elizabeth I. Praise for the songwriting, mockery of “art poser” David Thomas; the album only fully opens up with the booklet. Overall tone: positive.
