Eventyr for harde menn – Jackie Leven: Fairy Tales for hard men (Cooking Vinyl/BMG)

Positive review that starts from the cover (Peter Howson's painting “The Bodybuilder”): a hard man who wants respect from men and love from a woman who never comes. Leven quotes his formula of boys trapped in men's lives and playing men; the inspiration is again Robert Bly (“Iron John”, 1990). Despite the titles, it is above all a poetic, beautiful record with Celtic roots; “Poortoun” is “downright picture-perfect”, Doll by Doll play on a few tracks. A warning against repetition given such high productivity; a side-swipe at the failed Norwegian government committee on the male role.
